In 1994, Kiley was the sole correspondent reporting from behind the lines of the genocidaires during Rwanda’s genocide, earning international acclaim for his coverage. His intervention played a crucial role in the rescue of the last significant Tutsi population in Bisessero as French forces intervened when Hutu killers closed in on the survivors.
